Thiruppur Export Association seeks concessions

Affected badly by the recession, knitwear exporting industry has asked for sops. It pleads for withdrawal of fringe benefit tax (FBT) for sales promotion expenses like travel, tour abroad to garner overseas sales. Further, the industry demands a higher depreciation rate for its machinery, as export oriented industry is more exposed to obsolescence to stay competitive and also the sector is known for frequent technological changes.
