SIMA lobbies for ban on cotton exports

South Indian Mills Association, a textile lobby body is seeking a ban on exports to control the spiralling price of cotton. The body has blamed the disruptive influences of international speculators and dominance of multinationals which affects the performance of the entire value chain. The Cotton Advisory Board(CAB) has estimated 295 lakh bales of cotton with domestic consumption and low quality stuff accounted for, 40 lakh bales have been covered for exports.
