Sambandam Spinning Mills Ltd (SSML) was incorporated in 1973 as a private limited company and converted into a public limited company in 1994. The company is mainly into manufacturing of cotton yarn with focus on higher counts and value additions catering to the premium yarn market. The product profile of SSML includes cotton yarn in cone form and hank form carded, combed, single, double, TFO, gassed, mercerized, hosiery, organic, compact BCI and slub yarn. Mr S Devarajan is the current Managing director of the company, who is assisted by Joint Managing directors Mr S Dinakaran and Mr S Jegarajan. As on March 31, 2014, the capacity was 89,052 spindles spread between three units located in Salem district. The company also has 16 wind energy converters for a total capacity of 12.575 MWin Tirunelveli and Coimbatore districts.
